WHEN WE LISTEN TO THE QIUET VOICES, EVERYTHING GROWS

I’ve worked with dozens of non-profits and NGOs to create programs that elevate + expand their work.

SAMPLES

  • Get Lit - Words Ignite is the largest youth poetry nonprofit in California. As the Manager of Communications & Special Projects, I led social media strategy & content creation, including this 25-page annual report.

  • In partnership with the United Nations and Get Lit, I brought ten poets to perform during the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York City. They also passed out “United Voices of Peace,” a zine that uplifted youth solutions to gun violence, climate change, and racial injustice.

  • March For Our Lives is the largest organization dedicated to ending gun violence in the United States. I developed a content strategy and curriculum to expand their work as part of their Poetic Justice book club series.

  • As a Fulbright scholar in Kelantan, Malaysia, I designed after-school poetry workshops, multi-day retreats, and community-wide festivals to promote youth development through the arts.

  • The National Endowment for the Arts Big Read broadens our understanding of our world, our neighbors, and ourselves through the power of a shared reading experience. Through a grant from the NEA, I designed and facilitated a 10-week poetry workshop based on Claudia Rankine’s “Citizen: An American Lyric.”

  • ACT TWO was a performance arts project & organizing effort by formerly incarcerated youth in LA. Through theater, poetry, and music, the young people successfully contributed to the effort to stop LA County’s $3.5 billion dollar jail-expansion plan. I served as a mentor and Teaching Artist throughout the project.

  • Beyond the Bars was a 3-day conference that brought together community organizers, activists, policymakers, and researchers, students, and those directly impacted by mass incarceration. I co-designed the program & a resource fair for returning citizens.

  • I served as the Managing Editor of The Wine Zine, a biannual print publication about the people, places, and ideas in natural wine and viticulture.

  • I managed the Rubinger Community Fellowship, which awards $40k to 10 Fellows each year. The program hosts inspiring leaders from across the country who are focused on testing forward-thinking ideas and catalyzing grassroots opportunities in the communities where they live and work.
